Returning to Supply Teaching after a break?
People take a break from teaching for all sorts of reasons and it can be tough to get back into the classroom. Our trained consultants are here to help you get back into the swing of things in a relaxed and informed manner.
Standby Teachers want to ease your route back into supply teaching. If you have taught in the past, have worked in a different field and want to return to supply teaching, you may find some of the below information useful.
First steps
Remind yourself what being a teacher involves - particularly if it’s a while since you last taught!
Is your qualification still valid? If you have qualified teacher status (QTS) with a DfE number, your qualification should be valid.
Are you registered with the General Teaching Council? Contact them on 0870 001 0308.
Get some experience
Having registering with Standby Teachers we will map out a short, medium and long-term plan with you that you are entirely comfortable with.
We will ease you back into teaching and constantly consult with you to ensure that you achieve your career goals.
Get on a course
If you have been out of the profession for ten years, we advise that you take a return to teaching course. Courses are available all across the country. A course will help you get up to date with all the latest developments in schools, brush up your skills and boost your confidence.
