What is Quality Mark?

Standby Teachers were one of the first supply teaching agencies to receive the DCSF Quality Mark when it was introduced in 2002. A testament to the quality of our business processes - you can be confident that our Quality Mark accreditation ensures all aspects of our supply teaching service have been approved by the DCSF.

Does your teacher supply teaching agency or LEA hold the Quality Mark Status?

"We encourage schools to demand this standard from their supply provider." DfES 2007

The DCSF Quality Mark scheme was launched in 2002 to enable schools to identify supply teaching agencies that meet the highest standards of safe and ethical recruitment.

Quality Mark holders must demonstrate that the following checks and vetting procedures are carried out including;

- up-to-date CRB

- List 99

- two written references

- permission to work in UK

                                                                                          - GTC registration

                                                                                          - face-to-face interview.

The importance of the Quality Mark scheme was emphasized by the 'Safeguarding Children' report by OFSTED which highlighted the need for effective communication between schools and supply teaching agencies on data checking. By using Quality Mark holders, schools are ensuring that the necessary checking procedures are in place and that they providers they work with are up to date with the latest DfES guidelines.

The Quality Mark scheme sets out 19 standards covering the way supply teachers are recruited, selected and supplied to schools.
